For more than 20 years, Gene G. Abel, M.D., and his researchers have been developing technologically advanced evaluation and screening tools to keep children safe.

Abel Screening, Inc. (ASI) was founded in 1995 to provide therapists and criminal justice professionals with psychosexual assessment tools to better evaluate individuals who are a sexual risk to children. Before forming ASI, Dr. Abel spent the previous eight years developing the technology that would objectively measure a person's sexual interests to identify individuals who have sexual behavior problems.

Anew Therapeutic Services, Inc. is excited to support CalATSA and all the trainings and meetings this fledgling organization is hosting. We look forward to more in-person events and opportunities to see our many friends in this field, as we all work to make California and the nation safer.

A Step Forward, Inc. is an incorporated forensic and psychotherapy group practice established in 1985. We specialize in working with children, adults, and families affected by sexual harm and other forms of trauma. Our services include forensic evaluation, family reunification, parent coordination, and general psychotherapy, including treatment for those who’ve committed sexual offenses, non-offending parents, and couples counseling. Where necessary, we work directly with the courts and probation to promote rehabilitation and safety.

As a thriving community outpatient clinic with four locations in the Bay Area, our mission is to help eradicate sexual abuse through education, therapeutic, and forensic services. We love what we do, we care deeply about our community, and we are known and respected for our ability to hold, support, and treat all sides of the abuse dilemma.

The Counseling and Psychotherapy Center, Inc. (CPC) is a CASOMB-certified program specializing in the assessment and treatment of adults and adolescents with varied clinical needs, including histories of sexually abusive behavior. We provide services in secure, transitional, and community-based settings and currently work with 22 counties in California.

Our treatment services begin with an intake assessment or evaluation. This provides clinical staff with a detailed sense of the circumstances and assists in establishing treatment interventions best suited for each individual. Ongoing treatment is then conducted in individual or group therapy sessions, or a combination of the two. Our treatment programs are structured in a manner that guides participants in accepting responsibility for their behavior, understanding underlying factors and life experiences, learning to make better choices toward a successful and harm-free future, and practicing acquired knowledge and healthy self-management in day-to-day experiences.
